Identity Choices
Identity online is practical design. Names, handles, avatars, bios, and links all shape how people find you and what they assume.
Choose by context
Section titled “Choose by context”- Use a real name where trust, work, legal identity, or long-term attribution matters.
- Use a handle where community continuity matters more than legal identity.
- Use separate identities when mixing audiences would create risk or pressure.
- Avoid posting recovery clues like school names, pet names, birthdays, or old addresses.
Bio boundaries
Section titled “Bio boundaries”A bio can say what you want to invite without offering everything about you. Prefer clear contact routes over personal details that create avoidable risk.
